“ANORA” WINS BEST PICTURE AT THE 30TH ANNUAL CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS

Last night the Critics Choice Association (CCA) announced the winners of the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards. The star-studded awards ceremony, hosted by Chelsea Handler, broadcast LIVE on E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The show will also be available to stream February 8 on Peacock.


“Anora” won Best Picture, while “Emilia Pérez”, “The Substance” and “Wicked” each took home three trophies overall in the film categories. “Emilia Pérez” won Best Foreign Language Film, Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña, and Best Song for “El Mal”. “The Substance” won Best Actress for Demi Moore, Best Original Screenplay for Coralie Fargeat, and Best Hair and Makeup for Stéphanie Guillon, Frédérique Arguello, and Pierre-Olivier Persin. “Wicked” won Best Director for Jon M. Chu, Best Production Design for Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales, and Best Costume Design for Paul Tazewell. 


“Shōgun” led in the series categories, earning four awards including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series for Hiroyuki Sanada, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Tadanobu Asano, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Moeka Hoshi. “Hacks” followed with three wins, earning Best Comedy Series, Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Jean Smart, and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hannah Einbinder.


The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards show was executive-produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment. The Critics Choice Awards are represented by Dan Black at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. 


Critics Choice Awards are bestowed annually to honor the finest in cinematic and television achievement. Historically, they are the most accurate predictor of Academy Award nominations.
