The Cultural and Cinematographic Center of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles and Televisa Foundation invite the media to the opening reception that will be held on August 15 on the occasion of the National Mexican Cinema Day in the facilities of this Consular Representation.
Recently, the Mexican Government declared August 15th as National Mexican Cinema Day. We would love for you to join us in celebrating a week in Los Angeles dedicated to Mexican Actress, Dolores del Río, a most important figure from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema who also lived in this city and is considered the first Latina to reach success in
Hollywood.
On Monday, August 15th, an Opening Reception will be held to showcase a photographic exhibition dedicated to Dolores del Río. There will be 20 images of the actress (many of them rare or unseen), carefully selected and curated by Héctor Orozco, an expert of the Mexican Cinema Golden Age. There will be a tour guided by Mario Székely and, minutes
later, the film María Candelaria, starring Dolores del Río and Pedro Armendáriz (Dir. Emilio Fernández, 1943), will be screened. *Mexican snacks will be offered.
