Elisha and Erlyn Naguiat are a mother and daughter team who are the co-founders of Malasa, a Filipino family-owned and operated cake company in Los Angeles. The word "Malasa" means tasty in Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines. Elisha proudly supports her mother's dreams, recognizing the challenges that Filipino immigrants face in pursuing their aspirations. She wanted her mother to follow her own dreams and create a business that celebrates Filipino flavors and traditions.

At Malasa, Elisha and Erlyn infuse bold Filipino flavors into their cakes, such as brigadeiro chocolate shots, mango with mango frosting, ube with homemade ube jam, and yema. These unique flavors reflect their Filipino heritage and bring a taste of home to their customers in Los Angeles. Through their creations, they aim to share the rich culinary traditions of the Philippines and showcase the diversity of Filipino cuisine.

As a Filipino immigrant, Erlyn's journey to pursue her dreams serves as an inspiration to others in the community. By starting Malasa, she is not only creating delicious cakes but also empowering fellow immigrants to follow their passions and create a life they love. Elisha and Erlyn's dedication to their craft and commitment to honoring their heritage through their cakes have made Malasa a beloved destination for those seeking authentic and bold Filipino flavors in Los Angeles.

As daughter Elisha states, “Growing up as a Filiipino immigrant, it’s easy to lose sight of your dreams. We wanted our mommy [Erlyn] to follow hers.”
