We are delighted to introduce our readers to Roger Ortega, a Spotify-verified R&B/Pop recording artist whose record sales, performances, and songwriting credits opened the door for him to be a registered voting member of The National Recording Academy. As a recently accepted member, amongst other things, he can officially vote for The Grammys and has been invited to attend since 2018. Roger has opened for acts such as Color Me Badd, Otown, Aaron Carter, Dj Pauly D, and more. Roger just released his third studio album in October.
Roger Ortega’s latest project which is the New York Vibe video was in collaboration with Nitty Green, L*A*W, and Edson Sean.
Check out the video here:
These four guys came together back in September 2021 as the world was opening up to give us all a show in New Jersey and now they are giving us music with a positive fun vibe.

Congratulations on the release of your third full album “Midwest Charm” and your new single and video for “New York Vibe”. How did the collaboration with Nitty Green, L*A*W, and Edson Sean come about?
Thank you! I’ve known each of these guys for years. I’ve known Edson for 23 years, L*A*W 11, and Nitty for about 5 or 6 years. Each one of these guys excels in their lane and we’ve always wanted to work together. While on vacation in the Dominican Republic, sitting on a private rooftop listening to tracks, I came across this one. I knew instantly, this was the one for my boys.
What does it take to be a successful music artist?
Persistence, consistency, drive, and the ability to adapt on the fly. But just as importantly, a thick skin.
What can fans expect from the album and the single?
Storytelling, mind setting, vibe setting melodic songs with a pop overture and urban undertones.
What else can we expect from you this year?
I’ll be releasing a new song called Baila Toda La Noche which is about a guy who doesn’t speak Spanish, which is ironic because most of the song is in Spanish. I don’t speak it either and that’s basically what it’s about!
Any exclusive news you can share with us first?
Hmm, well, there just might be an RO Cruise 3 coming soon, but don’t tell anyone…it’s still a secret.
As a voting member of The National Recording Academy, what impact do you aspire to make within the music industry?
Integrity. It can be a popularity contest but I try to keep it 100 when I listen and vote.
