Happy Mother’s Day! Please tell us about your life as a mother.
Thank you for the Mother’s Day wishes! As a mother of four amazing children, motherhood has been both scary and rewarding for me. It has been a gift that has changed my life. Growing up, my siblings and I experienced the tragedy of losing our mother to domestic violence at a young age. This experience has made me appreciate the gift of motherhood even more.
Motherhood for me is all about love and life. It has made me love myself and my children on a different level. As all mothers know, when you have children, you become their life, and you would gladly give up your own to save them without hesitation. As a homeschooling working mom, I know the challenges of balancing both responsibilities, but it is all worth it.
I want to encourage other mothers to push forward and to never give up. Being a mother is a tough job, but it is also one of the most rewarding. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers out there!
How have you navigated being a parent while running a company?
Being a mom and a business owner, navigating both responsibilities can be challenging at times. However, I have learned to prioritize and plan everything around my family’s needs. My children are currently in a hybrid schooling model, where they attend regular school and homeschool. I make sure to plan my work schedule around their school schedule, extracurricular activities, and family time.
To show up as my best self, I am also learning to rest and relax. Although some may call me a workaholic, I am determined to leave a legacy for my children and future generations. Running a company while holding a family together is not easy, but I am grateful for my support system and take the time to appreciate them every day.
While it may appear to some people to be easy on the outside, I understand that I am a work in progress and continuously strive to improve both as a parent and a business owner. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing and I would embrace the challenge of balancing both roles as a proud parent and entrepreneur again.
What lessons have you learned from being a mother that you’ve applied to your work as an entrepreneur?
I have learned a lot of valuable lessons that I have been able to apply to my work as an entrepreneur. One of the biggest lessons is the importance of patience. Before becoming a mother, I had very little patience, but having children has humbled me and taught me the importance of being patient with others.
As an entrepreneur in the public relations field, patience is especially important. I have learned to give people grace and understand that everyone has different needs and perspectives. By being patient and understanding, I am able to build stronger relationships with my clients and provide better service.
Motherhood has taught me to be more patient and empathetic, and these lessons have greatly impacted my work as an entrepreneur. I am grateful for these experiences and look forward to applying these lessons in the future.
What would you say is your ultimate goal as a mother?
My ultimate goal is to teach my children how to navigate the world and become self-sufficient adults. I believe that it’s important to teach them valuable life lessons and skills, such as sustainability and compassion, that will help them succeed in life beyond just getting a college education. Additionally, I want to instill in them the importance of giving back to others and treating everyone with respect. I want my children to be confident, kind, and resilient individuals who are equipped to handle whatever challenges come their way.
What are some of your entrepreneurial aspirations?
Absolutely! My goal is to create a co-working and learning space for homeschoolers. As a homeschooling mother myself, I understand the need for a change of scenery and a supportive environment for both parents and children. My vision is to hire retired teachers to provide instruction and create a space where families can work and learn together.
To achieve my goal, I’m currently in the planning stages of creating a business plan and conducting market research to determine the demand for this type of service. I believe that there is a growing need for alternative schooling options, and my co-working and learning space can provide a unique and innovative solution for families.
I also understand that establishing a successful business requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to take risks. I plan to secure funding or investors to cover the initial costs of setting up my business and create strong partnerships with homeschooling organizations and local schools to expand my network and reach potential customers.

What advice would you have for fellow Mompreneurs?
Chi: To me the most important thing is to make time for your family and friends because life is short, and they are the ones who will be there for you no matter what. Finding a balance between your work and personal life can be challenging, but it’s essential for your well-being and the success of your business.
Another piece of advice I would offer is to listen to your instincts and not worry too much about things or people you can’t change. Instead, focus on what you can control and take action towards your goals.
I think it’s crucial to learn to rest and recharge so that you can show up as your best self for your family and your business. Finally, don’t give up, keep pushing, and continue to learn and grow as both a mother and an entrepreneur.
