Model and Actress Daphne Matthews Believes All Roles Need to Be Taken Seriously
Daphne Matthews has a tremendously strong work ethic. This actress, who has appeared in movies and TV series such as Wrong Turn (2021), Donnybrook (2018), and Sistas (2019), believes there are no small parts. No matter what actors are working on, they must be punctual and professional to further their career.
Multifaceted and highly sociable Daphne also thinks that life should be enjoyed to the fullest.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am originally from Kentucky but I grew up in Las Vegas. I have traveled a lot. I have eight brothers and three sisters, so it has definitely been interesting.
I currently reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am a mother of five children. I love everything about the film industry, from acting and singing to production work.
I have a small business in Cincinnati. I spend much of my time with my kids, working and sometimes painting houses. I love riding motorcycles and I am a huge muscle car fanatic. Whenever I need a little peace, I take a motorcycle ride. I like riding when it’s cooler out. I love learning new things as well as teaching the things I have learned. I am a people person and enjoy talking to everyone who messages me on my regular Facebook page and my Facebook acting page.
I have worked my entire life. I got my first job when I was 13. I have lived on the streets; this was at a young age and I refuse to ever go back to a situation like that again. I work as hard as I do because I went without when I was young, and will not let my family do without if I can help. I always donate to charities and to people who are on the streets.
I now make sure I live my life to the fullest, so that when my time comes, I will know I had an awesome time here with no regrets.
When did you decide to become an actress?
I have done a little modeling on and off my whole life. I once submitted for a casting call for a movie, Donnybrook, and had completely forgotten about it. A couple of weeks later, I received an e-mail that said I was selected to be an extra. I spent three cold nights outside, filming in shorts and a tank top. I had the time of my life, it was awesome. I then realized what I really wanted to do. I have been acting ever since then and I truly believe I will do it until the day I leave this planet .
Acting is hard work and so is production. I love that you can always learn something new and it is so much fun. You get so much satisfaction from seeing the final product, knowing that you played a part in the production no matter what you're doing in it . There are no small parts in this industry and everyone has value. I also think I’m a sucker for hard work.
Who are your biggest influences?
My kids. I love my kids even though they sometimes drive me insane. When they are not around, I miss them.
What is your main strength as an actor?
Always being up for anything. I have done some crazy things and I am always laughing about it afterwards. I’m a very easygoing and laid-back person. I do believe that anyone in this industry needs to be trained so you can bring what you’ve learned to your craft.

How difficult is it to establish yourself in the film industry?
It isn’t easy to establish yourself in this industry. Yeah, some people get lucky, yet others are spending every day doing auditions, reading, taking classes, starting at the bottom. I have some advice for anyone in this industry, be reliable and always be prepared. Do not be late and never burn your bridges in the industry, because even when you’re on the smallest of films, you might be working with huge people in the industry, and be completely clueless that they are watching you. Let them see how hard you work.
What's your dream, your ultimate goal? Do you feel like you're on the path to this goal, or do you feel as if you already achieved that dream?
My dream goal, honestly, is to just have fun being in the industry. I love meeting new people and traveling to different locations. I love just learning about all sides of the industry. As far as achieving these goals, I’m just getting warmed up.
What is your message to all your fans?
I love all of them. Do not ever let anyone tell you that you cannot do what you want in this life, because everyone is special. You can go from being stuck during the worst times of your life to somehow achieving your goal. I have been there. Do not be afraid to go after what you want, even when you have someone telling you that you can’t or if you think you're not good enough. Be yourself; people will love you for being yourself. If people are putting you down and bullying you, pay them no attention because they are the ones who haven’t learned their life lessons yet. Never forget about karma!
