This year's festival, hosted at the Embassy Suites in Downey, CA, from September 20 to 22, will celebrate the rich cultural contributions of the Latino/a/e community through a diverse and inclusive lineup of speakers, panels, and creators.
The festival will feature a remarkable array of talent, including award-winning actor Jon Huertas, Downey Mayor Mario Trujillo, Diana-Maria Rivas, Lisa Vidal, Aida Rodriguez, Patty Rodriguez, Danay Escaverino, Julissa Arce, and Rafael Fernandez Jr.
Event Highlights:
Friday, September 20: Opening Night Gala
Keynote speaker Jon Huertas, Mayor Mario Trujillo, and bilingual poet Solany Lara with a special poetry reading.
Enjoy food, cocktails, photo booths, and dance performances by Ocandeniye Dance Company and Chacombo, concluding with a salsa dance night.
Saturday, September 21: Workshops, Seminars, and Panels
Jon Huertas will moderate the Beyond Language Panel.
Panels include Pioneers in STEM, Colorism vs. Racism, Unity in Diversity, and Industry Changers, moderated by Rafael Fernandez Jr.
Seminars include Perfecto! Journey to Learning Spanish w/Jose Estrada and Intro to Business w/Lucee Cesena.
The day concludes with a Cocktail Networking Hour.
Sunday, September 22: Continued Workshops and Panels
Diana-Maria Rivas and Lisa Vidal, Co-Founders of Latinas Acting Up, will deliver the introduction and keynote remarks, followed by the Rompiendo Stigmas Panel on mental health in the Latino community.
Writer Rafael Agustin will conduct a short reading/Q&A from his book Illegally Yours, followed by the Literary Trailblazers Panel featuring Julissa Arce, Edward Denniz, Aida Rodriguez, Naibe Reynoso, and Patty Rodriguez.
Additional panels and seminars include the Film Forward Panel and Digital Storytellers Panel.
The festival will close with the Revolución Comedy Show, featuring performances by Gadiel Del Orbe, Cipha Sounds, Jose Maestas, Daniela Ines Calvo, and headliner Aida Rodriguez.
Free-To-Enter Community Vendor VillageThe Community Vendor Village is the heart of Revolución 2024, showcasing over 30 Latino-owned businesses. Open to the public on September 21 and 22 from 12 pm to 6 pm, the village features music performances, face painting, a family photo area, and meet-and-greets with creators. This vibrant marketplace highlights the entrepreneurial spirit and cultural richness of the Latino community.
